These terms govern your use of Cenote Finder (the mobile app and the www.cenotefinder.app website). By creating an account or using the service you accept these terms and the Privacy notice. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
Cenote Finder is a directory and trip planner for cenotes. It helps you discover cenotes, read and write reviews, build a route and send visit requests to hosts.
We do not operate the cenotes. Each cenote is run by its host, who decides its hours, capacity, prices, rules and whether to accept your visit. Cenote Finder is not a party to what you agree with a host, does not charge or process payments and does not guarantee that a visit will happen. Any payment is arranged directly with the host.
3. Your account
You can browse the map as a guest; to save favourites, book, post or contribute you need an account.
You must be at least 13. If you are a minor, you need your parent’s or guardian’s permission.
Give truthful information and keep your password safe. You are responsible for what happens from your account; tell us if you suspect unauthorised access.
An account is for one person. Do not sell or share it.
4. Booking requests
A request is not a confirmed booking. It stays “pending” until the host confirms or declines it. A visit is only secured when you see the status “confirmed”.
While pending, your request holds places for that hour. If the host does not reply within the cenote’s window (24 hours by default), the request expires and the places are released.
You can cancel a pending request at any time. A confirmed booking can be cancelled up to the cut-off the cenote sets (12 hours before arrival by default); after that, contact the host.
The host may decline or cancel a booking, for example because of weather, maintenance or capacity, and tell you why. If you do not show up, the host may record it.
To prevent abuse we limit how many pending requests you can have at once and how many you can send per minute.
We notify you by email, and by push notification if you turn it on, when the host answers and before your visit. Those notices can be delayed or not arrive: also check your request’s status in the app.
Cenote Finder does not guarantee availability, weather, water conditions, services or the information of any cenote; confirm them with the host.
5. Safety and risks
Swimming, snorkelling or diving in a cenote carries real risks, such as deep, cold water, slippery rock, jumping and, in caves, no light and no direct way out. You decide whether to take part and you accept those risks.
Always follow the host’s and staff’s instructions. Cave diving requires proper certification and a guide; do not attempt it without them. Look after children and weak swimmers. Cenote Finder is not a substitute for professional guidance or your own judgement.
Some cenotes are on private or communal land: do not enter without the host’s permission. Look after the place: shower before you get in, use biodegradable sunscreen or none and take your rubbish with you.
6. What you post
You can post reviews, ratings, photos, links and nearby places. You keep ownership of your content, and you give us a free, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to show and store it within the service for as long as it exists. If you delete your account, we delete your content.
By posting you assure us it is yours or you have permission, that it is truthful (based on your visit) and that it does not break the law or anyone’s rights.
Do not post false, misleading, offensive, discriminatory or unsolicited promotional content, or paid-for reviews.
Do not upload photos that identify other people without their permission, least of all children.
Do not include other people’s personal data (phone numbers, addresses).
Reviews are published straight away. Links, nearby places and owner requests are reviewed before they show. We may reject or remove any content that breaks these terms.
7. If you are a host
Give truthful, up-to-date information about your cenote, capacity and contact, and handle requests within the window.
Honour the bookings you confirm. If you cannot host a visitor, cancel in good time and explain why.
Use visitors’ data (name, email, message) only to handle their visit; not for advertising or to share with third parties.
Protect your dashboard access: use two-step verification and do not share your account. You only see the cenotes you manage.
We may suspend a cenote or a host account that breaks these terms or receives well-founded complaints.
8. Acceptable use
Do not use the service for anything unlawful or to harm it. In particular, you may not:
Impersonate others, or claim to own a cenote that is not yours.
Scrape data in bulk, automate requests or overload the service.
Try to access other people’s accounts or data, or get around the service’s security.
Send fake booking requests or ones you do not intend to keep.
The app, its design, text and brand belong to Mindware or its licensors. We give you a personal, limited, revocable licence to use it under these terms. You may not copy, modify or resell the service.
11. Service availability
We do our best to keep the service available, but it is provided “as is”. There may be interruptions, errors or changes, and we may modify or withdraw features.
12. Limits of liability
To the extent the law allows, Cenote Finder is not liable for what happens during or because of a visit (injury, damage, loss, cancellations or acts of the host or other visitors), for the accuracy of information or content posted by third parties, or for indirect damages arising from using the service.
This does not limit the rights the law gives you as a consumer, nor our liability for wilful misconduct or anything the law does not allow us to exclude.
13. Ending or suspending
You can stop using the service and delete your account whenever you like from the app (Passport → Settings → Delete account) or by writing to us. We may suspend or delete accounts and content that break these terms or put other people or the service at risk.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will publish the new version here with its date and, for important changes, let you know in the app or by email. If you keep using the service afterwards, you accept the changes.
15. Governing law and courts
These terms are governed by the laws of Mexico. Any dispute is submitted to the competent courts in Mexico, without prejudice to the rights the law gives you as a consumer.
16. Contact
